Root canal treatment is a technique used to save a decaying tooth. After removing the infected pulp and nerves and carefully cleaning the inside of the tooth, it is packed and sealed with a rubbery substance called gutta-percha. This procedure varies in price according to the local dentist, however, it is often affordable. It is less painful than tooth extraction, which, if not replaced with an implant, will leave a gap. To continue to bite and chew properly, the gap will need to be filled with an implant. It is a less expensive alternative to replace the tooth with an implant.
